Download the tier that fits your Mac and your patience. The default Balanced model is the sweet spot; Accurate is there when fidelity matters most. Models are integrity-checked on download, and recording is blocked until one is ready, because nothing ever transcribes in a cloud.

Does on-device mean worse?
No. Savory runs the same Whisper family the industry's cloud services are built on, accelerated by Apple silicon. The difference isn't quality; it's custody. A cloud service transcribes your meeting on someone else's computer and asks you to trust their retention policy. Savory's version of a retention policy is that there is nothing to retain.
Whisper is a multilingual model family, and Savory transcribes what the model supports. Accuracy is strongest in English and the other high-resource languages the Whisper models are known for.
Fast is about 150 MB, Balanced about 500 MB, and Accurate about 3.1 GB. You can switch tiers in Settings at any time, and Savory checks available memory before recommending one.
